Question:
If the ARMOR 2/2+ device loses power or connectivity, will it continue to track events and store them locally?
Answer:
Yes, the ARMOR 2/2+ device is equipped to preserve critical data and continue operations even when connectivity is lost, or power interruptions occur.
Detailed Functionalities:
Loss of Power:
- The ARMOR 2+ powers off, it will no longer track events. However, it will remember the state it was in when power was lost.
Loss of Cellular Connectivity:
- The device continues to track and store data normally even without cellular service.
- It can hold up to 20,000 events. When this capacity is reached, older records are overwritten with new data.
- Once cellular connectivity is restored, all stored events are transmitted, oldest to newest.
Storage Capacity:
- The device can store between UP to 20,000 events locally, ensuring that significant event data is retained until connectivity or power can be restored.
Example Scenario 1:
- Consider an asset that moves is in the middle of a usage run and the asset battery dies. This would power off the ARMOR unit, preserving its state until power is restored.
- Once power is restored the ARMOR device will check the assets current state. If not in use, it will submit it stored usage data prior to the power off event. If in use, the ARMOR device will continue to update until it has an event to send with a blackout time period during the loss of power event.
Example Scenario 2:
- An asset is used in an area where no cellular coverage is available, such as a basement of a building. During usage the ARMOR 2/2+ device will record and store all events that occur during the asset usage. Once the device is moved back to an area with cellular coverage, all of the stored events will be processed to our servers.
Conclusion:
- The ARMOR 2/2+’s capabilities ensure that even in scenarios of lost connectivity or power, the monitoring and control functions continue without compromise, enhancing reliability and security for mobile and remote asset management.
