This FAQ addresses some common questions and concerns related to vehicle tracking, speed reporting, and GPS route accuracy in the Vehicle Track system.
Why doesn't the system always show speed?
Speed is monitored continuously, but it is only reported during specific event intervals.
These reporting intervals are configurable and can be increased to capture more data.
Speed is pushed at each reporting interval, not continuously streamed.
For better visibility, we are expanding GPS pin drops to include turns of 45 degrees or greater, instead of the previous 75 degrees.
Can the system report more frequently?
Yes, reporting frequency can be increased. Please contact support if you'd like to:
Increase how often the GPS reports.
Capture more granular data, including speed and location updates.
Adjust settings to suit your fleet tracking needs.
Why do some stops not appear?
There are two primary reasons:
GPS Signal Loss: If a vehicle enters an area with poor satellite visibility (e.g., a garage or covered area), the system may miss a location pin.
Event-Based Reporting: The system only records data at specific event triggers (e.g., turns, speed alarms), so extended stops without triggers may not be logged.
Can I view the route taken?
Yes! The full route taken by a vehicle is available in the dropdown section under the GPS area. This view displays all GPS pins captured during the trip.
Why does the speed sometimes seem inaccurate?
Speed may appear inaccurate or missing because it is only captured during event pushes.
More frequent reporting, including on 45-degree turns, helps provide better insight.
Straight-line travel at high speeds may not trigger a report unless specific speed alarms are set.
What are Speed Alarms?
Speed Alarms can be configured to trigger when a vehicle exceeds a set speed for a specific duration.
For example: Alert if speed exceeds 75 MPH for 120 seconds.
We are working to make Speed Alarm settings user-configurable in the near future.
Why didn't a trip show up at all on GPS?
All trips should show up if properly reported.
In some cases, the data may not appear due to low event activity or temporary signal loss.
If you need help updating reporting frequency, configuring speed alarms, or interpreting trip data, please contact support for assistance.
