How to Define a Geofence

Introduction:

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on defining a geofence within the Armor Asset Management Platform for your site. Geofences are virtual perimeters that can be set up around a specific geographic area, enabling you to monitor asset movement and receive alerts when assets move in or out of the defined area.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Accessing Site Modal Screen:

    1. Begin by logging into the Armor Asset Management Platform and navigating to your desired site.
    2. Click on your site to open the site modal screen.
  2. Navigating to Map Tab:

    1. Within the site modal screen, locate and click on the "Map" tab.

    2. Ensure that the map accurately depicts the location of your site and that it is properly geolocated by address.
  3. Defining the Geofence:

    1. Once on the map tab, locate and click on the option to "Define Geofence."

    2. Identify the polygon shape tool for drawing the geofence.
  4. Drawing the Geofence:

    1. Click on the shape tool to initiate drawing mode.

    2. Zoom in on the map to accurately define the boundaries of your site.
    3. Begin drawing the geofence by left-clicking on the map to mark points along the perimeter of the desired area.
    4. Continue clicking to outline the entire area of the geofence.
  5. Completing and Saving the Geofence:

    1. Finish drawing the geofence by clicking on the first point to close the shape.

    2. Save the defined geofence.
  6. Viewing and Managing the Geofence:

    1. After saving, you can go back to view the geofence.

    2. The platform allows you to edit the geofence, adjust its parameters, or delete it as needed.
    3. To delete the geofence, click on the delete option and select the geofence to remove it from the map.
  7. Understanding Geofence Alerts:

    1. Once a geofence is defined, the platform will trigger an alert if an asset moves outside of the designated area.

    2. Users will receive an asset alert indicating that the asset is "off-site".
    3. Off-site alerts provide details such as the location where the asset was last detected and any relevant parameters.

Conclusion:

Defining geofences in the Armor Asset Management Platform is essential for effective asset monitoring and management. By following these steps, users can accurately delineate boundaries, receive timely alerts, and maintain control over asset movements within specified areas.
