What Are Goals?

Overview

Goals in ARMOR are powerful monitoring tools that help you track and improve your fleet's operational performance. They allow you to set specific targets for key metrics like runtime hours, distance traveled, charging efficiency, and idle time—then automatically alert you when those targets are met or missed.

Think of Goals as customizable "watchers" that continuously monitor your assets and notify the right people when performance thresholds are crossed. Whether you're tracking daily runtime targets, weekly distance goals, or monitoring excessive idle time, Goals help you stay on top of your operational standards.

What Can Goals Do?

Monitor Usage Metrics

Goals can track any telemetry data field collected by ARMOR, including:

  • Runtime Hours - Daily, weekly, or monthly runtime targets
  • Distance Traveled - Coverage area and movement efficiency
  • Charging Time - Optimize charging schedules and energy usage
  • Idle Time - Identify underutilized assets or excessive downtime
  • Battery Levels - Monitor charge state and battery health
  • Custom Fields - Any telemetry field specific to your equipment

Flexible Threshold Alerts

Goals can be configured with two types of constraints:

  • At Least - Alert when a value falls below a target (e.g., "Daily runtime should be at least 6 hours")
  • At Most - Alert when a value exceeds a target (e.g., "Idle time should be at most 2 hours per day")

Automatic Notifications

When a Goal threshold is crossed, ARMOR automatically generates alerts that appear in:

  • The Alerts page in the web portal
  • Email notifications (if configured)
  • Asset detail pages for quick visibility

Common Use Cases

Fleet Utilization Monitoring

Set daily runtime goals to ensure your equipment is being used efficiently. If an asset consistently falls short of its runtime target, you'll be notified so you can investigate potential issues or reassign the equipment.

Maintenance Scheduling

Create goals based on runtime hours or distance to trigger maintenance reminders. For example, alert when an asset reaches 500 hours of runtime since the last service.

Energy Optimization

Monitor charging patterns to identify assets with excessive charging time or poor battery efficiency. Set goals to maintain optimal charge cycles.

Idle Time Reduction

Track assets with high idle time to improve utilization. Goals can alert you when idle time exceeds acceptable thresholds, helping you identify underused equipment.

How Goals Work

  1. Define the Target - Choose a telemetry data field (like "runTimeToday") and set a threshold value
  2. Set the Scope - Apply the goal to specific assets, sites, or your entire account
  3. Configure the Schedule - Choose daily, weekly, or monthly checks
  4. Customize Messages - Define what notification appears when the goal is triggered or cleared
  5. Automatic Monitoring - ARMOR checks goals regularly and creates alerts when thresholds are crossed

Goal vs. Maintenance

While both Goals and Maintenance Management track asset metrics, they serve different purposes:

Goals Maintenance
Monitor performance targets Track service schedules
Alert-based notifications Task-based work orders
Daily/weekly checks Interval-based triggers
Operational insights Service requirements
