ARMOR 2+ Retro Installation Guide

Introduction 

1. Replacing ARMOR 2 with the updated 2+ ARMOR                
2. Most Kaivac Blue machines come with ARMOR 2 from the factory 
   1. Note the Green machine is the 17cc and has an ARMOR 2+ installed in it
3. This retro allows us to eliminate the voltage step down and “Y-Cable-Box”
4. If by chance your Blue machine has ARMOR 2+, just replace the ARMOR 2+ as installed

Items in your ARMOR 2+ kit 

1. ARMOR 2+ with black molex plug 
   1. ARMOR 2+ works on 9v to 70v 
2. New IMEI Sticker 
3. ARMOR 6 wire cable with a black molex to plug into ARMOR 2+ 
4. Wago Connectors 
   1. One 5-Wago for ground wires
   2. One 3-Wago for 36v power wires 
   3. Two 2-Wago for pump and vacuum wires 
5. Instruction sheet or QR code to ARMOR 2+ Retro installation

How-to Guide

1. Check in with the site Management. 
2. Locate the Blue machine that will likely be in the back janitor's closet. 
   • This is a Kaivac 17501 with a 36v lithium battery.
3. Empty the waste and clear water tanks. 
4. Make sure the battery has a charge and is connected to the machine.
   • NOTE - the Geen machine has the same battery if needed for this repair.
5. Drop the black box.
6. Remove the inner shield.
7. Locate the ARMOR 2 on the right side inside of the black box.
8. Locate the voltage step down module.
   • 2 36v wires in
   • 2 12v wires out 
9. Locate the “Y-cable" box.
   • 2 red motor wires in
   • 1 red digital wire out 
10. Install the new 6 wire ARMOR 2+ harness.
    • Negative from the main battery uses a 5-wago.
      • Join 2 primary ground that you cut.
      • Add 1 ARMOR ground that is green.
      • Add 2 common grounds that are Black and Brown
    • 36v positive 
      • Join the 2 primary 36 volt that you cut.
      • Add 1 ARMOR Positive that is orange.
    • 2 Motors 
      • Cut the “Y-Cables” off the “Y-cable" box. 
      • Join the yellow wire to one of the red wires from the “Y-cable" box.
      • Join the red wire to one of the red wires from the “Y-cable" box.
      • Color coding is not important on either of these motors.
11. Remove the ARMOR 2, the Step down and the “Y-Cable" box.
12. Power on the ARMOR 2+ by plugging in the 6 wire molex to ARMOR 2+ 
    • Make sure ARMOR 2+ is powered on by red light inside the ARMOR tower logo.
    • You may force a record and by holding the two top outside buttons for 5 seconds.
      • You will see the red-light blink again inside the ARMOR tower logo.

Test at ARMORdata.com, login, Initialization test

• Check for connectivity.
• Run vac motor 2 minutes and check for utilization.

Install ARMOR 2+ on the two studs that held ARMOR 2

Put the Blue Kaivac Machine back together.

• Place the New IMEI sticker that is in the Kit/bag on the side of the Black box.
• Register the Device
  • Take a picture of the IMEI on the bag next to the machine's Serial number tag.
