Instructions for Armor 4, 12V Power Supply, and Amp Clamp
Components Overview
This document describes the wiring connections required for integrating the following components:
Armor 4
Orange Wire: 12V Power input
Green Wire: Ground
Red Wire: Input signal
12V Power Supply
Red Wire: Power output (+12V)
Black Wire: Ground output
Amp Clamp (Donut Sensor)
Red Wire: Signal output
Black Wire: Ground
Wiring Instructions
Step 1: Connect Ground Wires
Gather the ground wires from all components:
Black wire from the 12V Power Supply
Black wire from the Amp Clamp
Green wire from Armor 4
Connect these three ground wires together at a common ground point.
Step 2: Connect 12V Power Wires
Take the red wire from the 12V Power Supply (providing +12V).
Connect it to the orange wire of the Armor 4 (12V input).
Step 3: Connect Signal Input Wires
Take the red wire from the Amp Clamp (signal output).
Connect it to the red wire of the Armor 4 (input signal).
Final Connection Summary
The ground point connects the black wires from the 12V power supply and amp clamp to the green wire of the Armor 4.
The power point connects the red wire from the 12V power supply to the orange wire of the Armor 4.
The signal line connects the red wire from the amp clamp to the red wire of the Armor 4.
Additional Notes
Ensure that all connections are securely fastened to prevent accidental disconnection or signal loss.
If using a terminal block or connector for the ground point, ensure that the connector can handle the current and voltage specifications of the system.
Double-check the polarity of each wire before powering on the system to avoid potential damage to the components.
Safety Precautions
Always disconnect the power supply before making any wiring changes.
Use appropriate insulation for exposed wires to prevent short circuits.
Ensure that the amp clamp is properly positioned around the conductor for accurate current measurement.
Troubleshooting
No Power to Armor 4:
Check the connection between the red wire of the power supply and the orange wire of the Armor 4.
Verify that the power supply is providing the correct voltage.
No Signal Detection:
Ensure that the amp clamp is securely connected and properly aligned.
Check the connection between the red wire of the amp clamp and the red wire of the Armor 4.
Intermittent Connection Issues:
Inspect all wire connections for loose or poorly crimped terminals.
Ensure that there is no corrosion or debris on the connectors.
